A couple weeks ago some buddies and I dusted off our Cruisers and got down to Moab. Although we had a great time, we did have some carnage so we only ran 2 trails. Because this trip was the first real off-road trip for Phil's mustard yellow 40 since he purchased and built it, we took an easier trail the first day. Jay in other 40 has some good experience behind the wheel making him dangerous with the recent addition of a locker. The video is not yet completed and we are still waiting on one buddies photos. Those pics should be worth the wait though.
Day 1: Fins and Things
Day 2: Kane Creek
Day 3: Left early due to breakage
Carnage Report: One 80 birf cage, one 40 u-joint, one 40 spring pin, one 40 seat belt, one wet 80 distributor
Here are some of the photos that were taken: (Not necessarily in any particular order)
Jay's "Expedition One" 40. He decided he should probably not wait any longer to fix the busted driver seat belt.
Phil's newly (mostly) finished baby. We left the fenders unpainted because he has some Metal Techs to install.

Re: A few Land Cruisers do Moab (non 20BB)
Check out the "new" M12000! We got to use it twice this trip.
Group photos are fun.
The birfield breakage. Meet my apprentice. My buddy hadn't changed one out yet, so I let him get a little greasy.
Good thing I was prepared. I had a pre-packed spare. As we got everything ready for the spare and started unwrapping it, we quickly realized that it was for a 4Runner. I gave Landon my 80 spare birfield prior to me getting a cruiser.
It was a nice, hot day. Apparently this is not a great place to set the high lift because it dented in my bumper.
So the Moab Napa owner's son is a big Toyota guy. Him and another local buddy have Toyota buggies. For some reason they had a brand new chromoly Longfield for me. If that's not weird enough, it also happen to be for an 80 series. They even gave me a good deal on it. I just hope that's what it really is. I took a bunch of pictures of it because there were no markings on it, hence the concern. But it got me off the trail.

Re: A few Land Cruisers do Moab (non 20BB)
Oh how things change. Breaking a birf on my 82 or my 87 SAS Runner was never this big of a deal. My buddy and I backed off the trail while the two 40s finished the trail. We drove to 4 stores before hitting the Napa right before they closed. These things may be obvious to most, but come to find out, it seemed my braking (ABS) was affected by the lack of birf/axle connection, as well as my power, and park position wouldn't hold. If I would have been MORE prepared and researched this, I would have double checked my spare. Once the new longfield was in I was, for the first time, quite grateful for my 80 powerplant. I hope to have at least one spare before I head out again on the 28th with the 20 Buck Bunch.
